In this blog post I'm going to teach you how to love yourself from the inside out. Often times we think we need to do all the external things IE; make sure our hair is done, make-up done, exercise, drink plenty of water, and get plenty of rest. Those self-care practices are great, however without the internal compass to guide you on the journey most of that will fall by the way side and you will beat up on yourself for not being consistent. You are not consistent because you lack the foundation in which to stand on. Below are 6 self-love principles to support you on your self-love journey. Embrace them and watch as practicing love for yourself and self-care practices will increase.
Principle 1: Honesty
Let's be honest. Are you doing things to love on yourself right now? If not, then its time to dive deep and be honest. Be honest about what you want, why you are not loving on yourself, what's holding you back. Often times its easier to just go through life instead of seeking to change. Honesty will support you tremendously in life. Be honest with yourself, with others-it is a principle that will truly set you free and lead to more happiness.
Principle 2: Self-Compassion
This is a big one. You get to be gentle, kind, and understanding toward yourself. You get to build yourself up with affirmative words, when you make a mistake you practice forgiveness, but get back up. As women we can be too hard on ourselves for the things we didn't do. Learning to practice self- compassion is an act of self-love that will benefit you greatly from the inside out. Additionally, when you give yourself self-compassion you start to transform and not accept less then love and respect from others.
Principle 3: Openness
Many times we don't even realize how closed we have become. Staying open is about receiving more love, believing there is an abundant supply of love. Stay open to new opportunities, to growth, to receive the tools, and support you need to love yourself and love your life. There is so much good that awaits when you are open to receive it. Remember God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you can ask or think. Eph 3:20
Principle 4: Hope
Hope is a powerful principle if you can just hold on to it. Even a glimmer of hope will get you through the good days and not so good days. Hope will give you peace. It will allow you to have a mindset that is steadfast because you will be able to hope against hope and never give up. It is when we face difficulties or disappointments in life that we give up. Don't loss hope on your journey to love. You can do it!
Principle 5: Gratitude
Gratitude is an internal medicine that when taken everyday will support your inner-well-being from the inside out. This is truly a principle that has the greatest return on investment because what you focus on expands. Joy attracts joy, freedom attracts freedom, success attracts success, love attracts love, and gratitude will attract more to be grateful for. You will win and go far in life if you develop a mindset of gratitude.
Principle 6: Expectation
Having an expectation is about having a firm belief in what you want. It's trusting the process and enjoying the journey until you get to your arrival. It truly is a belief that what you are seeking is seeking you. When you are in expectation you are in assurance. Often times because of fear, doubt, and worry people attract the opposite of what they truly want and don't even realize that self-doubt is a form of expectation. If you don't expect anything good to happen then you have what you believe. Get into the habit of praising God for what you are expecting to happen even when you don't see it yet. Trust that you are unconditionally loved and that God wants you to be filled with love, inner peace, and joy.
