Professing God's Word: Activate His Promises to Unlock Faith and Purpose

Let's clarify, I'm not talking about your career, though the act of professing does take work. I define profession as the work of speaking the word of God or positive words over your life. This is the best work you can do to bring ease and flow into your life. God is the inspiration for this work. God is the original affirmer, "I am God of a thousand hills". Therefore, you can profess, "I am a child of the God of a thousand hills". There is no greater purpose than to wake up every morning professing.

Profess what? You might ask. Any and everything by faith according to his word, your health, peace, finances, purpose, family; the areas are unlimited. Ask God what areas you need to grow in and start there. For example, if you want to grow in hope then profess Roman 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

God rewards those who can speak well over their lives. I believe God wants us to have an expectation for our good. Why? because he is a good father and his word cannot return to you void. He also rewards your faith. And without faith, it is impossible to please him for whoever draws near to God must believe that he exists and rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (ESV) You are exercising your faith because you are speaking beyond what you can see in the natural. For we live by faith, and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

For believers, Kingdom people, children of the most-high God you should expect to be blessed. Blessed to be a blessing and going from glory to glory. You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor. Hebrews 2:7 (NIV)

This doesn't mean challenges won't come but we will overcome as we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. We can trust God is with us and goes before us to fight our battles. When you're aligned to God's Word, you're on purpose. His Word will move you toward his perfect will for your life which is goodness. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23:6 (NIV)

Side Note: The words you declare this year out your mouth will either help or hinder you, so choose wisely. If you're looking to go further and study there are deeper levels of sound and how your voice was designed with a unique DNA. I recommend this book Change Your Words, Change Your Life: Understanding the Power of Every Word You Speak by Joyce Meyer

How many promises of God do you know? There are so many in the Bible. The point is to start with a few, meditate on them, memorize them, get it deep in your heart, mind, and soul that you begin to not only speak it but walk in it. You walk in it because you believe it by faith. I keep my promises in my journal and reference them daily, the Holy Spirit will often prompt me to say them.

Words have

  • Delivering power

  • Forgiving power

  • Can heal offenses

  • Lift oppression

  • Ease chaos

  • Activate peace

  • Change you

God created this world with words, he spoke. This same power resides in you. When it comes to the promises of God it's already finished, but it's our job to receive and walk in it. You cannot walk in it if you don't know or lack confidence in your authority to shift the atmosphere. You bring glory to God with your words. As for me, this is my covenant with them, says the Lord. My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants- from this time on and forever it says the Lord. Isaiah 59:21 (NIV) When God makes a promise he will not fail. It's time to believe God and use the word to grow in your purpose. Here are seven promises I recommend you start with below.

You have access to the promises of God. You must receive them. Daily speak life and the word of God over your life to activate your purpose.

Other Ways to Use Profession (Tips)

1. Profess God promise of comfort

Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3

2. Profess God promise of wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to you. James 1:5

3. Profess God promise of rest

Then Jesus said come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and will give rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. Matthew 11: 28-30

4. Profess God promise of peace

Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

5. Profess God promise of heart desires

Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

6. Profess God promise of help in trouble

God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1-3

7. Profess God promise of direction in life

I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go, I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

Final Word

Do you recite the word of God over your life? If so, how often? If not, why not? Try it this month. Here's my recommendation

1. Start with one promise a day

2. Write it in your journal

3. Ask God to reveal how to apply this promise to your life

4. After professing say "I receive this promise as a child of God and I thank you God for your word, it is life to me and I walk in it."

We have a purpose in him and we can always profess the promises of God over our life. Which of these 7 promises are you going to profess over your life this week to unlock purpose?
